African Hunting Seasons, Preparing for Your African Safari

Hunting Season

The hunting season in Burkina begins on December 1st and runs through May 31st. In December or as soon as the grass has dried out enough the dead vegetation is burned in a controlled fashion. This burning promotes new growth and attracts game animals into the area. Our hunting safaris are scheduled to provide the best opportunity for you to harvest your animal. March is the best time to conduct buffalo hunts and earlier in the season is best for antelope hunts.

Preparing for the Hunt

The safari that you are about to go on is not an easy hunt. There is a good chance you may have to walk long distances in search of game. Any way that you can prepare yourself for the physical aspects of it will be worth it in the long run. The more you can walk the better your chances are of seeing the trophy you want. It is important to have practiced with the rifles you will be shooting. Practice shooting from a number of different positions. Whenever possible you will shoot from a rest or shooting sticks but as we all know hunting can bring surprises around any corner.
